In Large Volume Metrology, the requirement to align objects to Gravity (Plumb & Level) is common, particularly large Aerospace Tooling. This process is completed using many different types of Measurement Devices; Optical/Digital Levels, Transits, Theodolites, Total Stations and Laser Trackers all perform this task, some faster, some more accurate, but all capable.
To perform Plumb and Level of an object in Verisurf X the only requirements are that the device have a “tilt sensor” incorporated, and the Device is “oriented to gravity” using the Verisurf Device Interface (VDI). The process used in the VDI is unique dependent on the type and model of the device, this “Orient to Gravity” process must be completed prior to beginning the measurement process.
